Prophylaxis - Why?
What is professional dental cleaning (PDC)?
Stubborn bacterial dental plaque is removed. The main cause of caries and periodontitis! This cannot always be removed with intensive dental care at home.
Prevention rather than treatment
It has been proven that regular PDC can reduce the risk of caries and periodontitis by 90%.
How often is PDC worthwhile and who should perform it?
It is scientifically recommend to undergo professional dental cleaning at least every 6 months in order to maintain dental health. This interval should be individually adapted if there is disease of the periodontium (structure surrounding and supporting the teeth), for example.
Hormonal changes during pregnancy is an important reason for having teeth professionally cleaned to prevent gum inflammation.
Screening is carried out for children under 6 years of age. The PDC should be performed by a specially trained dental prophylaxis assistant / dental hygienist.

Cleaning the interdental spaces is performed (individually) with dental floss or brushes. Ways in which you can do this effectively at home are discussed. The gum is rinsed and finally fluoride is applied to prevent acid attack from the oral bacteria.
Costs
Here in the practice, the cost of PDC depends on the duration and frequency. The health aspect is always foremost and in-depth consultation is a matter of course.
